Tagus Bridge, Carregado, Portugal
Smooth construction progress without disrupting traffic
The Tagus Bridge is a 17 km long connection between the A10 and A13 motorways, crossing the Tejo plain. The PERI service performance covers the formwork solution for the 1,200 bridge piers, together with pier heads, as well as planning and supply of formwork and shoring for the cast-in-place superstructure cross-sections. With the geometrical and statical challenging but costeffective PERI solution, the 8 m and 13 m wide clearances over the railway tracks could be kept free for daily rail operations. The PERI UP loadbearing system allowed optimal bearing and geometrical adjustments to be carried out due to its modular structure.
The formwork and concreting work – at a 75° angle – for the rail crossing – took place without any disruption to rail traffic.

“PERI was the ideal partner for the completion of this project. In particular, in the area of the rail crossing with a number of complex tasks and high safety requirements, PERI Portugal provided us with a comprehensive formwork and scaffolding solution. This meant that we could achieve rapid construction progress.“
